Scam Alert - An applicant to the Planning Division at Draper City received a phishing email asking for a wire transfer of money related to their application. The scammer lifted details related to the application from a publicly posted meeting agenda, sent the request to an email address listed on the applicant's business website, and represented the email as coming from a City employee. The applicant wisely ignored the payment request and contacted the employee they had been working with on the application to alert the City to this phishing attempt.

We encourage residents and businesses in Draper to be vigilant in looking out for scammers who pose as the City. Scammers are getting more savvy in masking their communication to appear as though it is from an organization. If you receive suspicious requests for payments by phone or email purporting to come from Draper City, please contact the City using phone numbers or email addresses listed on our official website at draperutah.gov to verify if it is legitimate. Never share personal or payment information without verifying.
